But I have watched over time how technology has snuck into the backdoor of our lives and ruled with greater influence over personal relationships.
It’s one thing to be a lifelong learner. It’s another thing to be distracted by everything you wish you had, living vicariously through others’ images, videos, sayings, and relationships.
What kind of a lifestyle is that? And are you really living YOUR dream?
Now I understand the flip side of how beneficial technology can be for communication, learning, and connection.
Yet it still can affect your mind and body even if it enhances your lifestyle.
So let’s briefly talk about some of the negative effects. Please indulge me for just a few minutes.
- The average American spends about 24 hours a week online.
- Increase stress levels —>increase cortisol
- Disrupts sleep patterns
- Rewires your brain
- Loneliness
- Anxiety
- Lower sperm count
- Text claw (repetitive motion of texting)
- More blemishes
- Neck pain (60 lbs of pressure on your neck)
You don’t have to give up your technology to keep a healthy distance from the possible negative side effects. You just have to be digiSMART!
So get up and go!
The K.I.S.S. ~ G.E.T. up and go!
- Ground ‘n Grab what makes you happy, and equates to joy.
- Evaluate the use of your time on digital technology. Think about the where, why, when, how, and what.
- Transition yourself from where you are to where you want to go. Who needs more frustrations or distractions.
Get up and go!!
