In order to move forward, you have to release your shadows from the past. The ones that hold you back. The shadows that keep the fear close to heart.
In life, we all have baggage. And unfortunately, we bring that baggage into our relationships, especially our marriage.

The shadows that you once thought you forgot, show up in the oddest areas of your life. Moments trigger a memory and out of the baggage the shadow appears.
Then as you go about your day to day, you find yourself gravitating towards the past, not the present.
Some of the most damage that is done in our marriage comes from our past.
Honestly, I don’t think we mean to. We just don’t stop long enough to see and understand what we are doing to our partner.
Both individuals in the relationship brings along baggage. This baggage weighs down our hearts and clutters our minds, especially our subconscious; the stuff buried real deep down.
What you need to know is the truth will set you free.
“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” ~ John 8:32
Covering up your shadows only creates a disconnect between you and your heart. And then the mind tries to come in and reason what is happening over and over again. Yet, you see it as normal. You get comfortable with your shadows. And they follow you.
But if you are one who doesn’t want the shadows to follow. You really want to deepen and intensify the love for your spouse in your marriage, you have to break away from the shadows.
The K.I.S.S. ~ Break away from the shadows!
What you don’t want, you no longer have to hold onto. You can take what you learned from the shadow and move forward.
- Identify the shadow – What is it that frightens you? What is it that is holding you back? What are you tripping over constantly? What is showing up in your marriage that has nothing to do with you AND your spouse?
- Find ‘n Forgive – Where did it come from? And then let it go. You are not trying to overdramatize or place blame. You see it for what it is. Forget what is behind and strain toward what is ahead (Philippians 3:13).
- Shine ‘n Share – Shine a light on the shadow. Reveal the shadow to your spouse. Share in growing together.
You have to break away from the shadows. And when you do, your light shines brighter!
