Plans might be a way to control what you want in your life. But when plans change, the heart sinks to instability. Why can’t things go they way you wanted? Now what to do.
It’s much easier when there’s only one involved. But involve two, that’s a totally different story.

When plans change, we can be so quick to judge our spouse for better or for worse.
No one likes unexpected surprises. The ones that throw off your plans and your emotions. You become unsettled wishing someone (your spouse) would have done something different.
Let the blame game begin. Or you murmur under your breath… I could have done it better.
What happened this Thanksgiving with your plans? Did everything work out as you planned?
We are too quick to place blame of what happened than to see the beauty in what is before you.
Plans change ALL the time. But when you have to adapt and become flexible, it’s much easier to be upset that things aren’t going as planned.
Very unfair to everyone involved. And you can imagine what that does for a relationship.
There is no reason to be rude!
Instead of looking for blame, look for God’s work in your spouse.
The K.I.S.S. ~ Look for God’s work in your spouse!
Nothing is more rewarding to the heart than seeing God’s handiwork in your spouse.
But if you aren’t looking for it, I promise you, your eyes will be blind. You will not see what you aren’t looking for. Which means, you will miss God’s grace in motion.
This is one of the greatest blessings. You are privy to seeing your husband created in God’s image showered in His grace.
“I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus.” ~ 1 Corinthians 1:4
Now you may be wondering how to look for God’s work in your spouse? Ask these questions.
- Where have you seen God at work in his life?
- What stands out to you that you can thanked God for?
- How can you encourage him to become more aware of how God’s grace has blessed you?
What an incredible experience to fill your heart with gratitude! The more you see grace bestowed on your spouse, the greater the gratitude you have for your spouse, even when plans change.
“Give thanks because of God’s grace!”
