Failure drains the soul and robs the heart of dreams. When your child fails, where does that leave you?
As a parent, usually you feel bad or sad depending on the situation. Sometimes we try to make everything better within our power.

Today is Good Friday. I was reading in Matthew and a couple devotionals speaking to what Jesus went through this day, and reflecting on what was being done to Him.
Besides the crown of thorns, spitting and slapping, they placed a label over His head. (This is Jesus. The King of the Jews. ~ Matthew 27:37)
Charles Stanley, Jesus, Our Perfect Hope: 365 Devotions
I’m not sure why this jumped out at me, but it was how Jesus was treated after they had already decided He was a failure. They mocked Him. Called Him names.
Now that was the easy stuff for Jesus to take when He was crucified.
But then I thought how do I treat my children when they fail, when they don’t live up to my expectations.
Honestly, I have placed a label on them. In fact, I probably even mocked them or the situation to “prove a point”.
We as parents need to understand that our reactions, words, and responses all impact our children, whether good or bad.
So how are you treating your child when she or he fails?
Are you supporting them? Loving them? Giving grace as grace is given to you?
For the majority of us, I don’t think we actually want to treat our children this way.
So when your child fails, you want to lift up your child in truth and love.
The K.I.S.S. ~ Lift up your child in truth and love!
They go hand in hand.
When your child fails….
- Let them know they are loved.
- Support them in the truths.
- Lift them up. It’s always moving forward, not leaving them behind.
God did not leave you behind. You are not to leave your child behind.
So as you go through this day, reflect on how you serve your child when she or he fails.
