The little things do matter. You can harp on the goodness or the stuff that makes you mumble under your breath. But what you do out loud changes everything. Love your spouse well.
How many of your New Year’s resolutions, or promises, or intentions incorporated your spouse? Did you even consider what you want for your marriage this New Year?

A lot of people become very “me” oriented when it comes to setting resolutions and goals. But those resolutions and intentions that challenge more deeply and usually end in greater reward is what involves your marriage and/or your family.
So if you haven’t thought much about this, you’re not alone. Today, set aside a few minutes to go think about what you really want in your marriage.
Now I have, but that doesn’t mean I understand the full impact it will have throughout the year. I’m still planning out what I would like and how I foresee accomplishing it.
Let’s join in the adventure together. And as a reminder, if you look at it as an adventure, you remove the idea of needing everything perfect before you even start. And that’s a good thing!
You need to start on behalf of your marriage. There is no requirement as to how many years you need to be married (in fact, you may not be married yet). There are no rules.
With the exception…love your spouse well.
The K.I.S.S. ~ Love your spouse well!
When you look at your relationship, what truly makes you smile about your spouse?
Is it something that he does specifically? Is it something you do together on a regular basis?
1. What makes you smile now? You need to know what you are starting in order to see growth. This is your baseline.
2. What makes your spouse smile? This doesn’t have to be something that is occurring now. It could be something you’ve talked about having done. It could be something you’ve noticed in observation.
3. How can you love your spouse well? Maybe you need to communicate your love for him more frequently. Don’t assume that he knows. Maybe you need to give him more space when he comes home from work to decompress.
At this point, you can begin to plan how you can put this into motion. Take A.I.M.!
This year, I want to encourage you to not take your spouse for granted.
- Let his/her presence be known.
- Serve him/her well.
- Forgive him/her well.
Spouses can feel like they are invisible. So you need to make sure your spouse isn’t one of them.
This year can be a pivotal year for your marriage when you love your spouse well.
