Three ladies were in a restaurant and as they picked up their menus each one put on a pair of glasses. A little embarrassed, the first woman said ”I really only need mine for close reading.”

The second lady said, ”I only use mine when the light is bad.”

The third smiled and confessed, ”I rarely wear mine – except when I want to see.”

With any new year comes dreams and goals. Some of them you diligently plan for and strategize; others you wish for.

But then you have your spirituality; your faith. Have you given much thought to what you want in your relationship with God?

I’ve been having some constant reminders lately that I’m not getting any younger. Just like those ladies in the restaurant, what glasses will I wear?

Will I be embarrassed like the first lady and only claim to use them for close reading, when I need God urgently?

Will I be shy like the second lady and shame myself for using them, hiding who I am and my faith?

Will I be smiling in false confidence when I do use them, acting like I got my life all under control?

This year is a special year. And you are special too! We tend to forget that God wants to be in our lives, not only on the sidelines. He doesn’t want us showing up for the game of life alone. God desires to hold your hand.

He wants to reach out and lift you up when the world is beating you down. God wants you to know Him, trust Him, and call on Him before relying on anything of this world.

But you can’t do that if you aren’t willing to do the work and have faith.

Will you be willing to put on heaven’s specs to see the God-size dreams?

Will I be willing to go against society’s pressure and choose to lean on God in all circumstances?

Or will I give in to the pressure and look for what’s trending?

You can’t become who you are supposed to be with a chip on your shoulder, acting like you have all the answers, and fumbling through life listening to WIIFM only!

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.” ~ Proverbs 3:5-6

With the first full week here, are you preparing yourself for your eye evaluation?

Do you think it will be 20/20 vision where you can see clearly at 20 feet?

Or will it be 20/100 where you must be as close as 20 feet to see what a person with normal vision can see at 100 feet.

Or better yet, will it be greater than the vision of an eagle with a 340-degree field of vision?

What if your vision was through God’s eyes?

Let God reveal your seeds of greatness to you. Wear what He has to offer. But you still have a choice.
