We think that leadership is only for the corporate world, entrepreneurs with a budding business, or non-profits that are creating significant impact.

Well, I’m here to remind you that as a parent, YOU are the leader of your children. Your influence and impact for the generations to come are tough to comprehend. So that reminder today is essential.

Because we settle into the idea that parenting is about raising kids to do well in school, get a good job, have a great family, all the while leaving their mark on the world.

But that mindset minimizes the influence and impact you have on how the world progresses (i.e., the advancement of technology, vaccine discoveries, interracial relationships, etc.). Seriously, your child could become the President of the United States.

I want you to know how valuable you are as a mom, as a dad. The conversations you have with your children are not for nothing. I get how at times you feel like you are talking to a brick wall; no emotional engagement or response. There are those days where it’s all about the silent treatment. And that breaks your heart because you don’t know where your child stands.

Your child needs…

• Your direction
• Your discipline
• Your attention
• Your wisdom

Your child needs YOU!

When the going gets tough, you have to get braver. You have to be willing to step out instead of retreating.

This is a confession. We all do it. We get tired of saying the same things over and over again. There were hundreds of times I told my children I should have recorded myself, because all I did was repeat the same thing.

But I’m here to tell you that your words matter. Your actions matter. Your heart matters.

So don’t throw in the towel. The battle belongs to you and the Lord.

The K.I.S.S. ~ Parent on your knees!

Growing up, I didn’t think much about the method to my parent’s madness; how they were raising me and the techniques and strategies. Sometimes I think they just took a chance, made and decision, and jumped with something. I know my mom prayed a lot, and so did my grandmother.

For some crazy reason, we get this idea in our heads that we can control our children. We simply can’t! You might be able to minimize those temper tantrums. But to have them all go away, that’s a choice by your child. Yes, how you consistently respond to them has an effect. Yet ultimately, the decision is up to the children.

THE QUESTION: How can you find the balance between feeling in control, letting God lead, and the children getting to decide?

Why do you think it’s all about parenting on your knees?

1. Know God goes before you. So go to Him. Take it to the cross.
2. Nourish the mind, body, and spirit.
3. Encourage always. No matter what happens, be the rock for your child.
4. Educate in love and with discipline.
5. Shepherd with your head and your heart. It takes two to tangle to greatness.

What you do does not go unnoticed. Maybe your spouse doesn’t always acknowledge what you’re doing, maybe you’re a single parent, or solo parenting.

The battle belongs to you and to God.
