Why do we fight? Disagreements and frustrations are part of life. There is no way everyone will always agree. But that doesn’t mean you are not loved.
You get to pick your friends, but not your family. And if your family is like mine, there are many times we disagree.

When you think about fighting, most people jump to the conclusion of loud, obnoxious yelling and anger being expressed.
But fighting is much more than that. We are wired to defend our position and our safety.
And as parents, you better believe we are ready to defend!
However, the children are ready to defend too, but with less life experience. So they are definitely lacking wisdom in comparison to older family members (i.e., mom, dad, etc.).
But like anything else, fighting can strain and stress relationships. No one likes to be in those situations.
Think about it. Do you like having an argument with your child over him/her not cleaning his/her room?
What would happen if you looked at your frustrations and disagreements, tensions and arguments differently.
What if you committed to carrying each other instead of letting each other down?
The K.I.S.S. ~ Carry each other!
Imagine coming together and finding the common ground. What seems so different may be more alike.
- Connect – How can you serve with a heart of kindness? Think of it as hospitality.
- Collaborate – What do you have in common that you can come together on?
- Create Curiosity – What can I learn from where you stand?
As a parent and leader of your family, you are responsible for teaching life skills. One of those is how you handle opposing positions.
Life is not about everything and everyone agreeing. But respecting and growing to understand more of who the other person is.
Most people desire to be seen and heard. And that goes for children too.
Be cautious not to let disagreements and fights get in the way of love! You don’t have to agree, but you can love unconditionally.
