Are you faced with circumstances that seem impossible to change? As Viktor Frankl says, “When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.”
Viktor Frankl, an Austrian psychiatrist, wrote these words a few years after World War II, which he spent in four different concentration camps.

Against all odds, he still knew his purpose and found meaning in life.
Today, the focus is wellness and well-being. And in the search for wholeness, we are looking for the magic pill. It’s that one thing that can remove all of the circumstances and situations that have pulverized us—little hope for change.
Change is a fundamental principle of life. Change is a constant. And we need to give ourselves the grace to develop our response to change, not continuing to live in reaction to it.
Think back to science class and doing your labs. You pour two chemicals together, and you get a reaction.
To impact our own being, we need to become equipped to respond, not react to change. As with anything new or different, there can be tension or adversity from one side or another.
Research suggests that we, as humans, cannot only be able to endure threatening or traumatic circumstances but also grow as a result of them.
The scientists Richard Tedeschi and Lawrence Calhoun call this “posttraumatic growth.” Their research identified seven specific areas of growth that can emerge as a result of change, adversity, or tension.
- Appreciation of life
- Appreciation and strengthening of close relationships
- Increased compassion
- Identifying new possibilities or a purpose in life
- Awareness and the use of personal strengths
- Enhanced spiritual development
- Creative growth
Hard does not mean impossible.
So when you look at your health, where does your adversity meet your goals. Because where adversity lies, there you flee.
Don’t allow change to engulf your well-being.
The K.I.S.S. ~ Utilize your freedoms!
I have shared personal struggles with my health, from food and body battles to injuries, to food intolerances, to genetic disposition.
These can be excuses to keep me on the couch doing what is easy because I don’t want to fight the battles. But I am free to decide what’s best for me. So utilize your freedoms.
- Choose — You have a choice. You get to choose what you want for your life. If you like the couch, then stop complaining about your weight. If you want to wear what’s in your closet, then get up and groove; intentionally move.
- Be the Change — None of this wavering between what others want for you and what you want for yourself. No one is forcing you into a corner. So pick the corner you want to live from and be the change.
- Be Present — Busyness can rule your days! And sticking with that excuse only prevents you from becoming who God desires you to be. Have you ever thought about what it would be like to walk through life with a mind, body, and spirit that God dreams for you? Be present in your decisions and actions. Take A.I.M. from where you stand.

No magic pill will give you what you need. No infomercial has the be all end all for your body.
You have to be willing to make a choice that will impact your life forever.
“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms — to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances to choose one’s own way.” ~ Viktor Frankl
“Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!“
