Family is the best thing you could ever wish for. They are there for you during the ups and downs and love you no matter what. “Home is where you are loved the most and act the worst.” (Majorie Pay Hinckley)
How true is that statement in your family?

I must shout an ‘Amen’ to all of it. Growing up, I was not that difficult of a child. However, I’m sure I pushed my boundaries in a positive way, at least that’s how I viewed it.
- Staying out past my curfew, but I was working on school/band stuff.
- Not checking in when specifically requested only because I was on my way. There were no cell phones back then.
But if you were to ask any of my friends and their parents, teachers, and counselors, or anyone I worked for, I was looked upon as amazing and focused, driven and confident.
All of that is good, however, when failure strikes, the fall seems a lot greater.
Now as a parent, I see how pushing our kiddos to be the best they could, also gave them a complex to be more than they felt like they could be at the time.
When failure came knocking, it became Mount Everest. The failure was hard to overcome and the blame seem to linger longer.
As much as our children need to learn they can, they also need to learn what to do when they can’t.
How do you help your children pick themselves up at the worst time?
Give them the comforts of home.
The K.I.S.S. ~ Give them the comforts of H.O.M.E.!
It’s not about being right or wrong. Family is coming together when life is not what you expected, the hard-knocks come swinging, and the roller coaster is crazier than wanted.
You know how everyone has their favorite seat at home. Well, this is the basis on how to give the comfort of H.O.M.E.!
- Honest Hospitality (Framework) – Hang on tight with love serving them with your heart. However, when things go south, then be sure to bring honesty in conversation.
- Observant (Material covering) – Instead of hounding your child on what they can’t do, be observant of what they can do. Notice the good, not just the bad.
- Memorable (Cushion/Seat) – Remember what you do creates memories. You want to give them a soft place to fall, but still firm enough to hold you up.
- Empower (Pillows) – Here is where you courageously empower your child that regardless of circumstances, you will love them. Also,
The hardest thing is being the strongest when life threatens your comfort.
But as you work through the hard stuff, it does become easier. Be patient with yourself and with your children. This too shall pass.
